Areas of Interest

  • Genotype:Phenotype correlations for chromosome abnormalities
  • Detection of constitutional chromosome abnormalities by microarray
  • Cancer cytogenetics

Clinical Focus

Clinical laboratory performing cytogenetic and FISH analyses

Research Focus

Recurring chromosome abnormalities in leukemia and renal cell tumors

What I Do

I direct the UIC Cytogenetics Laboratory, which performs routine cytogenetic, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and comparative genomic hybridization/SNP analysis to detect congenital genomic abnormalities as well as cancer abnormalities.  My research interests flow from what’s happening in the clinical lab.
