Announcing an educational partnership with LifeSource in Transfusion Medicine

Thursday, June 19, 2008

As of July 1, 2009, the UIC Department of Pathology's fellowship in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine will become a two year program in partnership with LifeSource of Chicago. The current one year ACGME approved program, which is focused on clinical training in therapeutic and donor apheresis and transfusion medicine, will add a second year that will provide additional training in a large scale blood collection facility and in transfusion medicine research, making this a premier opportunity for fellowship training in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine in the United States.  The fellowship program director is Dr. Sally A. Campbell-Lee. Dr. Ram Kakayia, medical director of LifeSource, also joins our department as a faculty member.
